AI Image Generation Tools

"Don't be silly, Lucy."

When Lucy discovered Narnia through the wardrobe, her older siblings dismissed her story — until they stepped through themselves.

That's where we are with AI. Many people are still saying "don't be silly" about the hype. They won't believe it until they experience it for themselves.

I've been working with AI for years. But lately? The wardrobe door has opened wider than ever.

I tested three AI image generators to create art for my LinkedIn articles. The results? Pretty good, dud, and wild.

ChatGPT (free): The best of the three. It clarified what I wanted and delivered a nice image. But it gave me an extra finger, and the text wasn't quite right. Still — for someone with zero design skills, this was remarkable.

Nano Banana (free): Not even close. Google is rushing this, and it shows. But don't count them out — they'll catch up.

Midjourney ($10/month): The images are stunning. But steering it toward what you actually want? Nearly impossible. I gave up on "me and AI working on a puzzle together" and asked for my portrait in the style of Van Gogh. That it could do.

Here's the thing: I'm not a designer. Without AI, I'd be helpless making images. Now I can create something usable in minutes.

This is just image generation. Wait until you see what AI does for code, writing, and research.

Welcome to the new world. The wardrobe door is open.

Have you stepped through yet?
